    This has been around almost as long as baseball. The term beanball was first used between 1900-1905.

    Players were getting deliberately beaned by pitchers back then – and they didn’t have batting helmets !

    these unwritten rules need to be thrown out, especially in the American League where the pitcher never comes to bat. Therefore the AL pitcher is not available to get a pitch thrown at him. This was done back in the day, but the pitcher who threw the bean ball would be the target the next time he came up to bat.
