Those who remember, and those who may or may not care, there was an ancient Second City routine satirizing Tallman Savings and Loan, as well as WFMT, the radio station that would air the Second City. The routine renamed Tallman as Wellman Savings and Loan. In the skit, Wellman considered itself too good to mention financial matters and the mock commercial closed with “Wellman Savings and Loan – where money is never mentioned!”
Try again. Long, long ago, there was a Second City skit, played on WFMT’s Midnight Special, in which one of WFMT’s sponsors, Tallman Federal Savings and Loan, was satirized. Renamed Wellman for the skit, the fake commercial talked about how Wellman considered itself considered financial matters as crass. The fake commercial ended with “Wellman Federal Savings and Loan – where money is never mentioned!”
This appears to be a routine day for Tracy, as if he’s between cases, or not on anything too important, until this news broke. I was expecting him to be “debriefing” Sparkle about her experience with Blackjack – did she see or hear anything that might give them a clue as to where the hideout is located. Not only with Blackjack, but several other villains not yet captured, Tracy has such a casual “oh, well, we’ll probably run into them someday” attitude. The Tracy of old never let go of a case until all the bad guys were caught.
I love the old Fleischer Superman cartoons, and Gulliver, but I think my favorites are the old black-and-white cartoons. Bimbo, Koko the Clown, Betty Boop. Those are just completely bizarre.
Ahem….! Pensions for City employees are generally called “Unfunded Liabilities” for the city and are rarely hard cash. So Tracy and Sam are safe. In the private world, they look at it either way, but generally backed by real money. It’s the Unfunded Liabilities that is what is sinking all the big cities. Chicago leads the list. They simply don’t have the money.
I wonder if the “Ye Gods” is also because Tracy and his family’s finances is affected by the default. If Blackjack finds that out, he will really be motivated!
Looks like Cheapskate0 said it first: this seems to be a set-up for Blackjack to strike Fleischer Bank (as I had speculated yesterday might turn out to be the case). The difference is that this time Tracy is forewarned (with Bonnie’s help)! Looks like Blackjack might fall into a MCU trap. What would the consequences be if his antsy gang tried to shoot their way out? The possibilities are almost too horrible to contemplate….

If those are police pensions, then Tracy and Sam may wind up robbing banks! ;-)

There must be a particular circle in H*ll for those who break their pension pay-out obligations.

Tracy looks like he had a hard night. How long has it been since we’ve heard him exclaim, “Ye Gods?”

What terrible word placement in the paper. Someone needs to be reprimanded over this! LOL!

Pension funds are highly regulated. It’s unlikely that pensions would be affected by a bank default.

Anybody remember the Mr.Bribery/Matty Squared arc where there was a digital mouse that could raid banks ?
I think that those who want a “Mr.Bribery” story will be getting it shortly…
