Since 9/11 there have been 9 people a year killed by terrorists in the US on average. Your odds of being killed by a terrorist each year are 1 in 36 million. The odds of winning the Michigan Lotto is 1 in 10 million. You would most likely win the Michigan Lotto 3 times before you would be killed by a terrorist. Just something to think about the next time the President wants to scare you into a travel ban
When Arizona first got a lottery and the jackpot rose to $3 million, I teased my wife for buying five tickets. She said, “You won’t make fun of me if I win.” I replied, Yes, I will, for buying four losing tickets." @Frank Salem: I agree completely… the odds are still effectively zero. The overwhelming majority of people will never hit the jackpot.
The lottery is a tax on the poor and lower middle class. And it is pushed by the powers that be in the government knowing this full well.
Then the money goes into the “general fund” and is never really used for education – which is where it usually sold to us as being the place where all this money will be spent.

The odds of winning the lottery are about the same whether or not you have a ticket.

You all forgot the most important part of winning the lottery, that most winners are flat broke or deep in debt soon after they win.
