Remember kids: as long as there are no images, violence and cruelty are completely fine! Now Andy, how about you have Jason read a wholesome and innocent book where there is no cruelty or violence, like the Bibl- Oh… Wait…
Y’know, I’d actually like it if Jason cought her in a hypocrisy. Watch something like Passion of the Christ and just wait for her to come in during a particularly violent scene. “so, it’s OK to read it but it’s not OK to see the imagery?”
… so most of you seem to think it’s a bad thing for parents to try to shield their children from certain things? Just open the gates and let them do anything they want? I personally think it’s my duty as a parent. But then I have one son that has a good job and raising a family and very involved with his children and another that is in the top 5% of his class and never been in any trouble… hmmm… maybe I’m doing something wrong…
More to the point is how it’s portrayed. News, schools, history, the Bible, science and nature, have the: “See kids, that man just shot that other man. That’s bad.” While most movies and songs show the: “See kids, that man just shot that other man. That’s cool!”
There are certain points of the Bible kids will easily understand, but others that may take more maturity. For example, children are often taught that David killed Goliath. Usually when kids are entering puberty it is a time to learn that David killed Uriah. The reasons behind Goliath’s defeat in war and Uriah’s murder are as a different as night and day.
There was one strip where Jason was watching The Sopranos. It started where Andy and Roger say that the third season took so long to shoot and now the fourth season has been postponed, so they wonder when that will debut. It then shows Jason with a mustache drinking a beer watching the show, also an indicator the Fox children are not going to be kids forever. :)
I wonder if she ever saw cartoons from the 1950’s and 1960’s? Wile E Coyote falls off a cliff and walks away. A boulder falls on him and he walks away. Daffy Duck gets shot and he lives. Cartoons were more violent than people realize.

The local news consists mostly of people doing bad things to each other. Lots of stuff children shouldn’t be exposed to.

This is true and has been for a long time. Hell, I learned my first dirty joke in Sunday School class back in the late 60s. LOL

He would have been fine to watch it. Very G-rated last night.

I remember my dad telling us (his daughters) that we would be allowed to go to drive-in movies when we were 45 and had three kids.
