Of late I’d been critical of Stantis for chasing motes in his eye while ignoring the logs lodged there, but I think that I was giving poor advice to the guy when I suggested he change his focus. His metier is trying to be an illogical Conservative voice in a funnies page where most comics tend to have a sharp liberal sense of humor (perhaps due to the fact that both truth and humor have liberal biases). He’s never been terribly funny, witty or charming, but at least he’s saying something that others aren’t. When on occasion he does go after Trump it lacks a sense of irony and wit in the same way that his attacks on the press and on the Clintons have that lack (Really? Still fighting the Clintons? Really?) and his strip suffers by comparison to those that do political satire well. So please, accept my apologies and go back to your usual targets. That Bill Clinton sure is a devil (tee hee hee sigh hee). At least you’ll remain unique on the comic pages.

No need to check for accuracy when the news is FAIR AND BALANCED.

http://theknow.denverpost.com/2017/07/12/sinclair-denver-tv-purchase-tribune-kdvr-kwgn-2017/150970/ \\ Link to article about Sinclair buying out Tribune Media. The above article focuses on television stations, of which Tribune owns 42, to include WGN, their flagship, KDVR and KWGN, local affiliates here in Denver. // There is a video embedded in the article. In spite of occasional profanity, the video may help provide some background. // Bottom line: Sinclair is far to the right of Fox and appears intent on forming yet another “fair and balanced” network to compete with Fox. // Sinclair buying out Tribune may affect Scott Stantis, and quite possibly, he was aware of it two weeks ago when this strip was submitted.

So-called mainstream media has always been accused of being “left leaning.” Since mainstream media is corporate owned and profit driven, I have always had my doubts about that.

That “news blast” must be another headline from FauxNews.

Surprise. almost nothing you see, either on the internet or on Social Media, is true. What you see on Mainstream TV network news or newspapers is mostly true. Because, if its not, they retract the story and apologize for running it

Seems like nobody’s acknowledging the fact that today Scotty really nailed the problem with today’s news media. The corporate rush to be first, rather than to be right.

Sinclair recently bought the ABC affiliate here in Portland, OR. It is increasingly turning right-wing, even in non-political newscasts and I’m thinking of dropping it for one of the other stations.

StreetBeater: You’re absolutely right, the push to be first rather than be right. However, Scott really is one-in-four so far this week; the rest of the week, he was doing the usual “press is liberal crybaby” shtick.

Mr_Sherman: Please get back with me on what’s happening in Portland. The Denver Post article in my first post of the day documented just how horrible Sinclair is. I’m also concerned how much influence Sinclair has over a station that is already affiliated with another network, in your case, ABC. From the article, apparently, Sinclair attacks the local news with “must-run” political clips posing as news and provides word-for-word scripts that local anchors must use to introduce these clips. The amount of out-of-town control over local news production is breath taking and stifling.

Here in Denver, I expect total domination and control of the two television stations, KDVR and KWGN. KDVR was a Fox affiliate; I do not know the current status of that affiliation, though politically and editorially, it’s already way off to the right. KWGN was supposed to be an independent, just like WGN, Chicago, from which it got its name. With no other affiliation, I fully expect KWGN to become a Sinclair puppet.

Anyone from Chicago, please fill me in on WGN. What was it, forty to fifty years ago, WGN was my favorite station! Home of another denizen that thought he was King of the United States! (With apologies to Frazier Thomas, Roy Brown and, of course, Garfield)

They do want to take over. Which includes owning all the radio and TV stations and news papers. They want to own this country and run it their way. NO ACLU no Constitution NO Bill of Rights. Just the Bible, mostly Old Testament.
