It’s finally time to tell Tracy what has been going on with the escape, but keeping an eye out for film scams is not going to work because this isn’t a film scam.

State of the World of DT

I was going to consider Act 2 to start at the place where Public Domain first contacted Bea Thorndike, but today also marks an important transition point. Yesterday concluded the preparations for the con, with the Nitrates celebrating their accomplishment, but today is where the complications start to set in. I still think the overall story arc is about the Nitrates and their relationship with each other. That relationship will be tested when things go wrong (as they always do). Tracy has been the source of things going wrong for the siblings and that’s likely to happen again, eventually.

Yesterday’s strip was a high point with the siblings back together and dancing again, but story complications always set in.

I’d expected this cutaway a few days ago.

It is nice to see that guy in the yellow trenchcoat and fedora—what’s his name?—again after so long an absence.

The Nitrates’ new scam may not show up at first as Tracy watches for film scams, but sooner or later Auntie Bea will realize she’s been had and humiliated, and she may then call on the MCU, at which point the New Deal Scam should ring Nitrate bells in Tracy’s head.

So, yeah, along with Neil I’d say this is curtains-up for Act 2 of this drama, in which the police get on the case….

The “magic monitors” at Police HQ are working just fine. Simply mention a name, and the appropriate image will instantly appear on your screen!! Another high-tech wonder from Diet Smith’s labs, perhaps?

I’d say a mysterious producer in town looking for someone to voice Abraham Lincoln sounds close enough to the Nitrates’ M.O. for the MCU to investigate.

SPROCKET: We’ve been out for almost a month and no sign of Tracy yet!

SILVER: Another Flaptop relative must have come to town * laughter *

Time must not exist in Tracyburg. First, the guy whose name graces the title of this strip goes AWOL for a month, but has anyone noticed how long the Nitrates have been in the slammer without a trial? Reminds me of Gitmo. I wonder if they’ve even been charged?

Does he wear that trench coat and fedora 24/7? Does he really need just sitting in his office?

Wouldn’t Tracy be interested in investigating the actual escape, to see if there, like, any clues? When did he become so passive?

They BOTH manage to escape…separately….same time…..and Tracy can’t see it’s likely someone bigger is involved? He dropped the ball on that one…..
