Birds are the direct descendants of one line of dinosaurs yet some let bushy tailed rats push them around.

    How the mighty have fallen.

(How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!)

A hawk would take care of the squirrels. I have a red-tail you can borrow.

That is so mean. Why are birds more worthy of feeding than squirrels?

And you bought that feeder because it was “squirrel proof.”

I don’t mind feeding the squirrels, but the starlings and grackles drive me NUTS.

Finally found a squirrel proof feeder. I wouldn’t mind if they eat a little but they empty an entire feeding in an hour. Putting out ears of dried corn and peanuts can distract them also.

A neighbor put up spikes near his feeder, on top of a greased pole. I saw a squirrel on the feeder as I walked by. The squirrel thought for a second, then figured I got too close, and had to awkwardly walk back over the spikes in retreat.

We refer to our feeder, which is completely open and un-squirrel-proof, as the “Cat Entertainment Center.” While we do occasionally have to chase squirrels off, our biggest problem is the raccoons. They attempt to get up to the feeder by climbing an adjacent arbor vitae, damaging its branches.

I have a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder on a pole, and near-by on one side I have a bowl for the rabbits, squirrels, gophers and crows of corn and peanuts; on the other side I have a bowl with rocks in it of drinking and bathing water for the animals including stray cats and dogs. And the squirrels STILL climb inside my engine compartment and chew the wiring – so I have containers of cotton-soaked coyote urine hanging in my engine area to repel the squirrels and mice. Would you care to hazard a guess as to where the “stupid” animal eats?

Squirrels used to climb up my window and jump across to the feeder. I took off the screens to stop this, meaning that I could no longer open the window. The squirrels never gave up trying, even after a couple of years.

The need to it is very strong because that means life. Trying to feed only some animals is very difficult. Everyone wants food. Getting food is what they do,

We got the squirrels out of the birdfeeder by getting a squirrel feeder.

I really don’t mind the squirrels. They are rather cute and doesn’t do me much harm. But I would like to get rid of the deers, the rabbits and the mooses that eats everything growing in my garden. And most of all I would like to get rid of the ticks and the Spanish slugs.
