Now I’m in the mood for some squid ink pasta, with sauteed calamari sauce (olive oil, garlic, basil, chopped calamari, finished with romano cheese and crushed peppers). Almost lunch time.
I remember an episode of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not (hosted by Jack Palance) where they visited a restaurant in Japan where the chef chopped the tail off a live lobster, turned the tail meat into a meal, took the now empty tail shell, turned it upside down, rammed it into the body of the still living lobster, and used it as a serving bowl for the lobster tail dish he made. Diners were expected to take pieces out of the tail bowl as the lobster crawled around the table.

While squeezing a lemon over my fried shrimp at the feast today in the North End it got me in the eye (and I was wearing glasses!).
Later at home I was opening a bottle of lime juice which had partially frozen and again I was doused.

Many years ago I read about a restaurant in Japan that served a fish stew in which the fish was still alive (barely). Talk about fresh.
