I was once a LEGOS maniac and fore sure my folks and brother had their bare feet tread across them Danish building blocks once or twice.

My ‘land mines’ were little wooden American Bricks. Those gable pieces were triangular in sideview and may as well have been caltrops. Caltrops were anti-cavalry weapons aimed at horses’ hooves.

My land mines were my daughter’s jacks in the shag carpet. Buried one in my heel once running to answer the doorbell.

Most of the time I spend playing with Legos is done on a computer where stuff like that this doesn’t happen.

Legos are nothing. I once spilled a box of Grape Nuts. Thought I got them all cleaned up but years later I still occasionally find a couple that have worked their way out from under wherever they’ve been hiding. And always when I’m barefoot.

Glitter isn’t painful, but it sure is a persistent nuisance that can be found decades later and spread to areas that were nowhere near where it was used.

Having lived in warm climes most of my adult life, I prefer to be barefoot in my home ( flip flops are for outdoors ) so I have always eschewed carpet in favor of tile, bamboo or wood flooring. I love the feel of cool tile on my bare feet.

It goes without saying that I’m rather anal about keeping the floors clean and debris free. The grandkids know that my floor is a leggo-free zone !

I nearly always wear socks but on occasions I take them off so my feet can “breathe”
