Same reason I love my backspace key. When I was learning how to type in the 70’s, we didn’t have that and it was such a pain to erase typos!
Today’s youth are thus spared ever having to learn the lesson of Hansel & Gretel: don’t mark the route back home with something that will get eaten before you get around to using it.

Does anyone remember typing on mimeograph paper – and trying to correct a typo ?
Just get out the “Whiteout”! That was frequently the solution on a Typewriter. I have had quite a few different ones in the past.
One of my school teachers insisted we keep in the mistakes and underline them to show that we’d eventually got things right.
Or “Backspace”
