If good judgement grows from bad decisions, how do you explain Washington DC.

So Mom tried to fool him into doing the work by offering something harder?

Some time ago, when I was an actual kid instead of just an old fart who thought like one, I considered the idea that good judgment comes from bad decisions and wondered, well, then, why are there such consequences for bad decisions? Wouldn’t the system want to encourage bad decisions if the ultimate outcome was more wisdom?

But then I figured, no, bad decisions without consequence probably don’t trigger the same antibodies as disasters. The body probably figures it’s just another useless good decision and the hell with it.

And besides, I finally thought, a bad decision is still a bad decision and if there were no consequences, then everybody would go around making them. And then of course I realized that’s always the case anyway.

So that was solved, at which point I suspect I went ahead and made whatever dumb choice I was about to make before I called a time-out to justify it in my mind as some wisdom-gathering gambit.

So maybe the trip to H2OMG is a way to get him to bathe…

So he cleaned his room way back in June, never let on, and now he finds out that the next “chore” is a trip to the water park! Apparently Mom never let on, either. Good for Mom, but I wonder if Caulfield will write a book about his childhood later in life.
