This strip reminds me of some of The Family Circus’s strips – the ones in which one of the children traverses the entire neighborhood to reach a destination that was only steps away. Did Jimmy mean for the similarity to exist? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my mind.

This kind of layout is by design. 7-Eleven and other chains spend a lot of money researching where to put everything. Impulse-buy items (including snacks) are placed near the front so you have to walk past them (and hopefully buy something) to get to other items. Items people make an explicit trip for (like beer and automotive supplies) are placed in the back, since they know those customers will be willing to walk past the snacks to get there.

Of course, Arlo meandering past every row on snacks is his own problem.

Careful Arlo. If that’s next to the sardines it might be fish oil.

There’s more to quik-stop gas stations than clean bathrooms. It takes quite a while for a man to select the perfect road snack.

I see they sell sodas. Does that mean they hired a “soda jerk” to make them? Sodas have ice cream, soda water and flavoring. Or did Jimmy mean “pop”?

This looks like a typical gas station today, you can’t call them service stations as the service is gone. Anything for your car is an afterthought.
