@darsan…sorry, but trump’s mental illness is real, hundreds of mental health professionals have said so publicly. Your assumption of his “normality” is a meaningful problem across the country. By ascribing normality to trump, you define down and legitimize mentally ill behavior that should be regarded as toxic and NOT within the bounds of what we call sane. The fantasies, the lies, the extreme narcissism, the attention deficit disorder, the racism and misogyny, the inability to maintain staff, all of it comes from the mental illness. He has no control. He cannot stop it. If you expect it to abate, or part of some grand, clever scheme…think again. Try to grapple with these facts because they constitute the only lens that makes sense to use with the deeply sick man.
Until this awareness of the reality of mental illness sinks in, people will continue to treat trump as if he were sane. They will continue to analyze his behaviors and words for coherence and strategy. That’s a fool’s errand. There is no trump coherence or strategy. Nothing he does is sanely motivated. Get used to it folks. It won’t stop.
I think the problem with Trump and mental illness is 1. There are SOOOO many people in whose interest it lies to believe he and his behavior are normal and 2. that it’s not organic in nature. It’s not a physical malfunction of the brain or some gland affecting the brain. Trump’s cognitive function can be likened to the feet of Asian women when they used to be bound: all the parts are present but have been so distorted by external influences that they no longer function normally and barely resemble feet. Trump’s development as a human being was similarly bound — in the bonds of money, privilege, utter lack of consequences, constant reassurance that whatever suited him was right and good and anything to the contrary was to be gotten rid of. That sounds like freedom, but we see the resulting distortion of a human being in Donald Trump; the real meaning of a "spoiled child’, like spoiled meat — not fit for consumption. Without conscience, compassion, empathy, self-knowledge, learning (he had an education; just no learning) or any cognizance of the importance of these things he is a tragedy of a human being. On the world stage he is a disaster.
Republicans keep saying that Trump isn’t a Republican, isn’t a Conservative yet he continually uses what they want done and does them. Republicans want their cake and to eat it too without gaining Nazis and KKK.

No, he’s not mentally ill, but he is an enormous jerk who’s completely full of himself and unaware of any other human being.

Darsan54 – Oh, I dunno about that… I suspect Trump is very aware of Mr. Putin and Mr. Robert Mueller.
