I have a phone line and its cheaper than getting a cell phone. Nobody really calls me anyway, some people not alot mostly telemarketers, and my parents.
I gave up my landline years ago when I got my first smartphone. Couldn’t afford both so I kept the smartphone. The only thing I like about the landline was the fact the quality and clarity of the calls were so good. But I don’t seem to call much anymore, I text. Plus with the smartphone you have a powerful mini computer in your hand.
Honey, they’re out of your favorite ice cream. Would you like to pick another flavor or, oh wait… we only have a landline and there seems to be no public phones anywhere, and I don’t carry change any longer so I couldn’t call you from one anyway, so I can’t get your input. I’ll just take a guess… I’m from the really Way-Back and am so happy not to live in the no communication wasteland that was my past. Costs no more than a landline and is so much better.
I am from the party-line days and must disagree…I carry my cellphone for emergency use only. I value my privacy and do not feel the need to talk continually and often about trivialities. But then, I don’t do Facebook, et al, either.
No favorite flavor there, take a shot at a suitable sub or don’t get one.
I have no landline. Just my cell which is a flip phone using Tracfone service. My cell phone is used as a phone, nothing else and minutes seems to last forever. It is cheap and very reliable.
I have my cell phone hooked up to my 6 handset Panasonic Phone System and can answer it all over the house without touching it. You do that through using the cell phone’s Bluetooth connection. My cell phone is my home phone too!
My mom’s old black bakelite rotary dial phone had a cord on it that allowed her to go anywhere in the house with it – including the upstairs and basement.
Eventually, she modernized to a push-button Princess phone but still with a long cord.
While she finally agreed to a second ( cordless )phone in her bedroom, we could never convince her to get a mobile phone.

I love my Smartphone and I don’t care what people think.
And by the way, there are such things as “portable chargers” now.
