Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for April 14, 1999
Transcript:
Jeffrey: "Yes, you may already be pre-selected to join the Walden class of 2004!" Rick: What do we know about Walden? Joanie: Well, it's been a while, but when I was living near the college, it enjoyed a modest reputation for academic excellence...as I recall, it was pretty strong in the humanities, particularly in english lit. And it was considered pretty selective in admissions. Jeffrey: "And if you act now, Jeffrey Redfern, you'll be eligible to win fabulous prizes!" Joanie: Of course, schools change.

When Joanie was living at Walden Commune, the college was a Harvard parody. When the main characters left it was forced to become a more generic college parody in order to say some of the things Trudeau wanted to say about colleges in the US. That’s why it changed so much.
