Agness is young and still looking for something to give her life more meaning. Grandma has given up a long time ago.

Actually, I think Grandma is just being melodramatic for Agnes’ benefit….

gently mocking the budding drama queen, by outdoing her exaggerated pathos.

I hope there’s even an almost invisible twinkle in her eye.

At least we know where Agnes gets her gift for words, her articulate, if complicated, phraseology.

    Except…. shh… don’t tell them…

They both “inherited” their language skills, as did Trout, with her often perfect turn of phrase,

from Tony Cochran, whom I will once again nominate as one of the best writers on the comics pages, even though he probably won’t see this.

Actually, being widowed, living in an ancient trailer, and caring for pre-teen girl with wild ideas (I had a few of those at Agnes’ age!), her remarks may be more truth than fiction.

Explains why Agnes is so completely messed up. Grandma, trailer park trash, and low-life criminals.
