I truly think this lesbian wonderment about two young women talking about underwear is totally misplaced, and that is being nice about, and not being nice displays an unhealthy obsession with young women being interested intimately with each other any time they talk or even talk about any subject that is not “about guys”. Give yourselves a break, women don’t need to talk about guys all the time. Besides getting past that silliness the tie-in to the lingerie parties (there was some room left for there being more than one at the Fuse) with Ann and Les, and potentially with the Fuse, and all the characters involved with it is totally intriguing. To me, and I always admit with Luannverse I could be all wrong, that is where this is going not some ridiculous obsession with female gay sex.

I rather hope this IS flirtation and Tara makes a pass at Luann, if only for the sake of relieving boredom. I swear, either nothing HAPPENS in this strip, or we see weeks building to some big event that goes nowhere or is over in a blink. I say mix it up a bit! I’d be very curious to see how Luann handles it. Either way, I hope they stay friends because Tara is the most likeable character I’ve seen in a while.

I agree with the $84 “insane” comment from Tara. I also agree with the prudence of Luann having simple “Hanes 6-pack”.

From my manner of thinking, if I am looking at a female in her underwear, the clean, well fitting look of plain, white underwear is plenty “sexy” to me, perhaps more so than some of the elaborate (either in skimpiness, or “fru-fru-ness”, or expense) forms of “lingerie”.

Now, that said, the only underwear I actually see is on my wife, and it has always been wonderfully invigorating and pleasant, especially when they are removed. :)

I guess what I am saying is that the more elaborate “lingerie” items seem superfluous and unnecessary….. unless the woman actually enjoys them for herself.

Tara does seem like she was/is a Tomboy. That does not necessarily indicate her preference.

If Greg wants the “college girl lesbian experiment” story arch he’d be better off with Luann and Pru who are already good friends. Or Bernice and Dez, though I do not see that happening. I think Tara is just very lonely and needs a friend and Luann is the sort to make friends with everyone.

Has Bernie been replaced as go-to BFF? I don’t think Tara is ready for that job yet (though she could become so in the future). But I do think that Bernice, as currently written, has outlived her usefulness and is just a curmudgeonly drag on the strip and on Luann in particular. I would not mind her part being diminished….

As a female and a former college girl, this is very normal conversation between women. I can’t see how those old guys in here derive from this as a lesbian conversation or flirting. My guess is that could be chalked up as a male fantasy. While the guys talk about who banged who, brag about the number of notches on their bedposts, and how good they are, girls do talk about sex, but in a different way than the guys do. Lingerie is a very end of the spectrum of sex talk. And in the 4th panel, we can safely derive that Luann hasn’t gone home plate yet.
