Not much was done with his costume or theme… unless, as promised in that snippet of blog,
it continues somehow.
Sorry, can’t remember who posted to me late about McMurphy….
But in reply…
You’re presuming a lot.
I read the book years before I ever saw the movie.
In fact I was rather scarred by it, and reluctant to see the film, but I finally did and was almost glad it was a little more light-hearted in places….
though still, ultimately, sad and terrifying.
It’s hard to imagine an 8-year-old understanding it.
The Chief’s name is Bromden, not Broom, and I’ll agree, he could be considered the novel’s hero, or at least, its heart…
but McMurphy was his hero, if a picaresque one at best, and the center of his narrative.
That makes McMurphy the protagonist, by almost any description…
and the protagonist, not the narrator, is usually considered the main character of a novel,
even if without Chief Bromden’s escape, it would have all been unbearable.
2nd panel is like reading the comics, you sit to veg a while, then find yourself looking up things that you never would have otherwise. I am about half way through my comics list and have spent more time looking things up than on the comics this morning. Not that I’m complaining you understand.
Sometimes you’re doing what sounds like describing a problem, but upon further reflection you’re just describing details. There should be a past tense of “complain.” Maybe “ex-plain.”

No slacking off?

Has this site become a chat line for book reviews or comments in no way related to the daily strip?
