Good Lord, yesterday a badly drawn deer, today a really badly drawn stegosaurus! I’ve seen how they actual look in those prehistoric pictures I used to have when I was a child and they don’t look like that! You’re 2 for 2 today, Hart Jr.!

JOSHLYONS: I think it’s a fine looking stegosaurus (for a cartoon). If you want really good looking dinosaurs, go over to Calvin & Hobbes.

What makes comic strips even funnier to me are people who look for anatomically correct drawings and literal comic dialogue.

I think Hart got the pacing gait correct. Would make sense that trotting would require too much flexibility from the rigid fused-spine. All conjecture though. Stegs could trotted like foxes.

Poor Apteryx. He’s going to be lost to posterity; and there’ll be nobody left to tell stories about him.
