There you go, Steph! Yeah, that’s better, Rat’s the president in the PBS universe as a satire of Herr Drumpf, not Herr Drumpf himself. At least Rat gets to have his big, beautiful piece of cake and eat it too, at least until he realizes how “peach” and “mint” can be merged with “in” and, with a slight respelling of "mint’ can become “impeachment.” Maybe Ben and Jerry’s, whose leaders usually give to the Democrats and liberal organizations as I’m sure we all know (if you didn’t previously know that, then please look it up), can make it into an actual flavor. And you know what? Since I loathe Herr Drumpf, I’d happily eat a sample and also because although my beloved paternal grandma was a Republican and a conservative all her life, she also loved Ben and Jerry’s ice cream even in her old age. She’d serve it to us whenever we ate with her on Sundays while she was still alive. If she were still here (she would have been a century and a year old this year, so I doubt she would have been able to do so), I would have asked her to buy Ben and Jerry’s Donald Trump Im-Peach-Mint flavored ice cream if it ever becomes a flavor.
What is funny is for the last 8 years the same people called anyone who mocked the last president racist and unpatriotic . But now that Obummer is gone dissent and mockery are OK again.
Does anyone know when the strip was that Stephan mentioned eating dirt while playing as a child, and not knowing who to feel sorry for, himself or todays kid that is raised “germ free”?
In all seriousness, I didn’t vote for either of them, and I really don’t see how these 2 Presidents’ opponents’ behavior differs. It’s all the same: mockery, wild claims, dehumanization. It’s not “dissent”, but attack and hatred that we’ve seen, from both sides taking turns.
The major difference is that when people attacked Obama, they were decried as racist, while Trump’s defenders haven’t settled on a single epithet yet for his attackers.
Trump’s attackers are exactly as convinced of the righteousness of their hatred as Obama’s were.
The only humorous thing about all this, to me, is that people don’t remember back 9 years ago, when President Obama, having been on the national stage for only 2 years and having no experience in diplomacy, made a lot of rookie mistakes. They (naturally) remember the way he was at the end, with 8 years of practice at being President. (Of course, “diplomacy” is hardly a word people’d associate with President Trump.)
If one takes the long view, it looks like an unbroken string of Presidents, each worse than the previous one, since Ike. (Not coincidentally, Ike was the last non-millionaire President, since he worked for the government all his life. Bill Clinton did too, but his ethics were different from Ike’s.)
WTF! This used to be my favorite comic. Thanks for ruining it for me Stephen. Politics has no place in Pearls Before Swine. I can see by many other comments, your Snowflake friends are loving it. Stick to comedy.
@jeffiekins: “Both sides”? I’ll repeat something I said previously.
My neighbor on one side plays music too loudly. My neighbor on the other side puts bullet holes in my windows and walls and yells that he’s gonna kill everybody. This neighborhood is going to hell. I blame both sides.
JOSBALLARD replied to BORIS THE TORTISE that George Washington was more cruel and just as unpatriotic as Robert E. Lee. Here is my reply:
In his will Washington emancipated all his slaves except for those brought into joint ownership by his marriage to Martha. Martha emancipated the remaining before she died in 1805.
Robert E. Lee refused to give freedom to the slaves that his father-in-law had emancipated in his will when he became the executor of the estate. Many of the slaves were the children and grandchildren of his father-in-law, and therefore the half-siblings and nephews and nieces of Lee’s wife. Lee stripped and whipped a female slave in public after she was captured and returned after running away. He did the the whipping after a marshal refused to whip a woman. The marshal had whipped a runaway male slave that had been captured and returned.

How about a new flavor that’s a mixture of dark chocolate and coconut? We can call it “tar and feathers” and offer that to Donald J. Rat.

If they didn’t impeach Obama, they’re not going to impeach Trump. Both were egregious of impeachable offenses.
