Anyone who is trying to censor related, on topic, polls should be ashamed of themselves, you are not making this community better. You are just taking away the right of people to say what they want. MartySays has not done anything wrong and yet he has received a massive amount of hate and his comments have been flagged until they disappear. It is not the choice of others what he can or can not post here.

You know what? I’m being neutral this time. I can see that both sides are screwing up by generating needless drama. What I mean by both sides are the ones that are extremely afraid of polls (I’ll call this side the anti-polls, and yes, this side includes some of the gocomic users I respect) and the ones speaking up and defending the presence of polls and thinking that the anti-polls are just overreacting with polls. (I’ll call this side The Narwhals because he’s the one defending them the most.) The only way things can settle down at this point is when anyone doesn’t like or agree with a certain comment, just flag them, don’t argue, and be done with it. I’m just going to stay neutral, not say anything else regarding this and… Grabs popcorn and silently watches the drama in this comment section.

Just to be clear here, you guys are upset because you think polls are going to cause hostility in the comments. So combat that you start trying to censor people, start calling people names, start flagging on topic comments, and start arguments. All in the name of keeping the comments hostility free… do you see the irony here?

I have a scenario for everyone: Imagine one day, you asked for your friend’s opinion, and they turned around and told you that you can’t ask them that because they’ve had arguments based on similar questions in the past. I wonder if at all you’d find that rude, unjustified, or offensive, even just a little bit…

Notice how there are only about ten strip-related comments today (the comments from 305buckets all the way to the comment from hev1 (excluding the poll)). (I’m sorry that this isn’t strip related; I’m trying to prove a point.)

If any of you want to make a proper poll that nobody should hate, make it completely related to today’s Big Nate strip and make it in strawpoll.me. Here’s an example: www.strawpoll.me/14423020 We can all have a nice, friendly discussion about the answer afterwards. If people make a spam poll with this, simply flag and ignore. If people aren’t happy with even this poll I made, then I’m sorry, but this comment section is hopeless.
