I’m with Elvis. Whenever things get THAT cozy, I tend to get restless. I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop…

Maybe Elvis can’t sleep, but as expected he’s “not sleeping” right in front of the fireplace.

I hope the man put a grate on the fire!

Hmm, interesting description Puck gives there “log cabin wrapped in bacon”. Of course everything’s better with bacon :)

A Christmas decoration already? Okay, I admit it, I’ve been playing my Elvis Xmas playlist for a week now.

The Boys remind me of James Herriott’s “The Christmas Day Kitten”. I cry every time I read it. A very good book to help explain hard things to children. But! It ends in joy! Blazing hearths belong to sweet kitties! Thanks, Georgia! Time to re-read that classic! >^..^<

We have an old fashioned looking black stove with gas flames that draws the kitties like a magnet. Not exactly like a wood fire but much less mess and no wood chores.

I’m with Elvis on this one. I don’t even like candles because open flames indoors make me nervous.

We have a gas fireplace to heat our apartment. Yum Yum likes to sleep on it when it’s not running.

for the curious, it sounds kind of like hooga, with a hint of “hyuga”. Danish word meaning (very roughly) to get together with your friends, usually in candle or firelight, and feel really mellow and enjoy yourself, and generally involves alcohol. source: Sandi Toksvig in season 14, episode 2 of QI. It’s a great show if you like the British comedian panel show format.

What’s next? Georgia, the man and the felines all gathered around the old time PHILCO radio and listening to the Fireside Chat’s? Maybe even an episode of The Shadow or the Jack Benny Show?

I had an exercise bike with a wide seat. It happened to be parked so that the seat was over the baseboard heater. On cold winter nights, one of my cats would eschew the comfort of snuggling with me, and curl up on the seat to sleep. She left little punctures in the vinyl from hanging on.

I remember the first time I slept in front of a wood fire. That lovely wood-fire smell lingered in my jammies for days, and fifty years later every time I smell a wood fire that evening comes back.

The only thing that looks cozier than a curled-up cat or dog is when they start dreaming.

I’d say “hygge” pretty much sums up Georgia’s work.

Our guys love the “bright warm,” (as we think they think of it) when it’s really cold or cold and damp. We have a love seat and small rocker right in front of ours. Our “Elvis cat,” Waffle, stretches out full length on it, and resents it when we want to sit down. (He’ll then come and sit on us, and resent it if we decide to get up.) 8-ball uses “his” rocker, which is a little further from the fire, because he has a “magnificent pelt” (long, very thick, silky fur) and sleeping closer makes him too warm. He’s also more intelligent and wary than Waffle, having “gone a-Viking” when he was young, and learned from more extensive experience.

Hygge, indeed!

What? I thought cats loved warmth.

We use Gemütlichkeit, but that’s only because the Mrs and I also speak German.

Don’t worry Elvis! Unfortunately it does burn out.

And what kind of IKEA furniture is HYGGE?

I’m thinking that banner would make a nice counted cross stitch sampler. Just stitch in a small holiday icon on each side, and hang it on the door!

I’m with Elvis. We lost everything in a wildfire. I could never have a fireplace and enjoy it.
