I know this is an old comic, but for that headline, it means that not only have the Otterloops not cleaned out that shrub, neither has any previous owner.
That’s a priceless heirloom, but the next one will be even MORE priceless: TRAMP RESIGNS! (Ponce Pardons). Coming soon to a newspaper near your computer!

Keep looking. Maybe you’ll find “Dewey Defeats Truman”. Although that was the Chicago Tribune, so maybe not.
I remember moving into a house in the late 1960s as a child. My parents took up the linoleum in a couple of rooms, and found a layer of old newspapers from the 1920s underneath. We had a lot of fun looking through them.
Nothing famous (I do have JFK assasination papers and Look Mags via my mom) but was going through some old stuff of my grandmother’s that was wrapped in an old sports page. PeeWee Reese! Stan Musial! Spent some time reading rather than packing.

I still have a copy of the Denver Rocky Mountain News with the “Nixon Resigns” headline in huge letters
Have to wonder what it’s worth…

What is it with all the double replies today? This is the second cartoon in which I’ve found a bunch of doubles. Couldn’t all be personal errors:p?

Will there be a shrub left when all of the debris is removed?

Apparently, since no one ever cleans it out (or prunes it), that is one incredibly slow-growing 45+ year-old shrub

I think the little bush is just a facade for a TARDIS.

Wow! An endless bin, full of treasures from a forgotten past! Someone should write about this magical bush!
