It says something about a strip that admits that its kids have taken the same classes for so many years that they have holiday traditions associated with them.
In today’s believe-anything-and-doubt-everything-else-aggressively world, I’ve seen some suggestions that tryptophan is not quite the sedative we’ve come to think it is. No duh. I’m sure there’s tryptophan in turkey, and I’m sure people get a little groggy after the holidays. And maybe tryptophan is complicit, but Jef the Dietician suspects that tryptophan is going to have to get in the blame line far behind sugar crashes and overeating in general.
I may be right, I may be wrong. I may be employing a diversion tactic so I won’t get questioned too harshly for choosing 3rd-hour math, and just how early in the day does Mrs. Olsen get into her turkey sandwich, anyway? I think the Jef the Cartoonist must have been napping.

What’s with the kids face in the second panel? To me he looks like Dopey. Is it an homage?

Unless it’s been in the freezer, Thanksgiving turkey is probably nearing the end of its edible lifespan.
