Eggnog tastes pretty good on it’s own, I guess, But adding a little spirit of Christmas into the bowl can make you feel jolly…

Rum is the only thing that makes it palatable!

I LOVED egg nog as a kid. My parents mixed it with 1/2 regular milk; they called it Christmas milk. We left it and cookies for Santa. Apparently he also liked them both.

i have tried eggnog (both with & without), on average, once every 2 decades; that adds up to 3 times. I have yet to manage a 2nd sip……..

I love how A&J share cozy intimate moments. That’s the basis of a great lasting relationship (which leads to other fun benefits)…

Mine still doesn’t and i still like it

I will admit, i usually thin mine down a bit with some regular milk.

Or, mix it with some iced coffee.

I never liked (nor intensely disliked) egg nog, but adding even a bit of rum makes it completely unpalatable. I have never been a fan of alcohol but egg nog and rum is a really bad combo on my palate.

I’ve never had eggnog with liquor in it, in fact since I’m a non-drinker I find the thought rather disgusting. I loved eggnog as a child and as an adult I continue to enjoy it. But I admit to cutting it with milk to thin it up a bit, straight eggnog is just too much for me and becomes unpleasant quickly.

Egg nog is delicious using the original recipe, as was the original Orange Julius. It’s dangerous, you say! Nonsense, I reply. I ate raw pork in special preparations while in Germany soon after the war in perfect safety, because the German meat inspection system was adequate for the job and unsullied by the greed and corruption of lobbyists in the Bundestag! American foods would be safe to consume without “sterilization” as well if we just had adequate safeguards in place and they were enforced!

I have always really enjoyed eggnog. I did like it plain as a kid, and I very much relish the potent rum infused variety as an adult. I have even experimented with eggnog in recipes and made a pretty damn good eggnog flavored rice pudding!

Raised on a farm with lots of chickens and cows thereabouts. Quickly learned how to make eggnog and later when we got our ‘senior drivers licenses’ would make up a batch, add some rum and drive around the countryside to ‘have a toast’ with friends and neighbors, even with Jerry the local State Trooper on duty on Christmas Eve.. Try that today and I’d STILL be in a holding-cell somewhere in the Adirondacks, while Jerry’s grandson the lawyer probes the internet, looking up my total worth, fixing to “fee” me one-half! Good thing I’m at the ‘old fart’ phase of life.. I’d hate to be here in another 40 years !!
