This is sort of like a lowbrow (very lowbrow) version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, with the minor characters in the foreground while Hamlet, Ophelia, Claudius, Polonius, etc. are alluded to but barely noticeable. Kind of refreshing, really.
I laughed until I cried. It’s a metaphor for what many so-called Christians have done to that beautiful story and to the Christian religion in general; they use it for their own commercial or political purposes. I do certainly believe, however, that the Stooges were divinely sent into a world that needed them—just as Scott portrays. :-)
