I was actually thinking, rather than an “unpleasant occupant”, he’d just eventually become “family” — as in a regular part of their cozy little household. And Calvin’s Mom would just go back to normal. No, Calvin… it’s better to have him just visit occasionally… that way his “guest” status doesn’t wear off.
For a second I thought Calvin and Hobbes’ comment section got taken off, until I scrolled down and saw it. Which brings me to the question: Why is “Explore Calvin and Hobbes” on top of the comment section?
Reminds me of one of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” books where whenever Greg is about to get into trouble with his Dad he invites his grandmother over for dinner because he knows his Dad won’t yell at him when she’s around.
A big thank you to all people who help out their less lucky family members.Family has become a dead item in individualistic societies – a sad development.Likewise, a big thank you to all people who are looking out for other people – both directly through good deeds, helping to find jobs, providing care and shelter; but also through creating laws and regulations which make sure nobody gets left behind.Humanity must have advocates again.

After some time, he will stop being a guest and start being an unpleasant occupant.

Don’t think that they don’t notice. They notice, alright. At home is the world that matters to a kid.

The important thing is that the kid likes you, Max. That doesn’t happen for most people. We won’t think about why.

Calvin the bowler: he sets him up only to knock him down again.

Love Calvin’s wide-eyed innocent look in panel 2. Not a look we often see.

Don’t get too attached, Calvin. We never see Max again once he leaves.

I’m thinking that Max must be getting awfully whiffy by now – he’s been wearing the same exact shirt for the entire week!
