Fred MacMurray lived in Northern California and insisted his scenes for each SEASON all be shot at once. They were and the other actors’ scene were shot around him. Sometimes you can tell when Fred forgot to change clothes from episode to episode.
This is amusing, and unfortunate in some ways, since MacMurray, a terrific, versatile actor (See Double Indemnity and Caine Mutiny) is best remembered for this sitcom.

You could get away with it maybe 11 or 12 years, but after that, maybe sex transformation could be an option.
