Back in the late 1970’s before computers went online. There was a guy that sat in an office with a desk, phone, and a printed daily inventory report. The idea was if someone on the factory floor needed information on a part, they would call him. He almost never got called. He sat alone in this office day after day. He happily took a voluntary layoff.
