We had a cat that decided to use my sister’s homemade (by my grandmother) still wrapped nighty for a litter box. My dad escorted “kitty” outside for the day.
Dogs are better. Our bull terrier knew that the tree did not belong there, so Brutus would attack it and drag it around the living room until it had surrendered. At least he didn’t pee on it after it was conquered. (To put things in perspective, this alpha-pooch would also attack the shore breaks of the Pacific Ocean, but somehow he and our mailman were best of friends and exchanged slobber and butt-scratches, respectively, every day.)

I had a cat who used to do this—every Christmas. Sometimes several times a Christmas—fortunately never when we had presents under the tree.

When you bring the outdoors inside it can confuse some pets.
