Why do so many good comics turn to politics to try to find humor? I have loved Over the Hedge for a long time, and will continue to read, but will be very disappointed if you continue the not funny political “humor”. I didn’t vote for Trump, but get so tired of the same old rhetoric because he isn’t liked.

Can we get Hammie to erase 2016? That’s when the fake election took place.

Yeah, I just read the author asked for a good White House for parcels so he can send a box of candy in appreciation of raising his amazon best seller rating from 1080 to 1.Oh, Dukeofurl, give it a rest. If you don’t like what the 67% have to say, don’t read it.

When I want political cartoons I read editorial/political cartoons. I come here for fun, not political commentary. Awhile back it was guns, now it’s politics, where are you going next? I’m getting tired of it personally, I’m still muddling through it because I have a dream it will return to funny. Of course, I know it is fantasy, squirrels aren’t cute and cuddly, (they’re mean little rascals), coons aren’t that laid back (although they are quite fond of Twinkies), and turtles can’t talk, (some can hiss pretty well though). Come to think of it, that may explain his political rants of late, fantasy. ;)

For all those who are upset because it isn’t “funny”, you have to realize that funny, true, and relevant are not mutually exclusive properties. It isn’t that the strips aren’t funny, you just don’t like the message the strips are bringing. The problem for conservative snowflakes is that the current administration is a gold mine of humor. Late night talk show host as well as cartoonists don’t even have to try hard, they just have to quote what happened today.

Sorry if making fun of your choice bothers you, but attacking the powerful happens. And if they are nincompoops and act bad, so much more fodder.

I can’t dislike Trump as a politician because he isn’t one. I can and do dislike his abominable behavior as a human being; and, as Night said, when you’re a public figure you’re open to the “slings and arrows.”

So, I will just cite one logical fallacy. A well-regulated militia which can’t conform to any regulation since it consists of all the people and they, by their very nature, can’t regulate themselves.

Now to get back to the Roman Republic, the point I was trying to make was that demagogues like The Gracchus brothers, often referred to as the “Gracchi” were the first to mobilize and militarize the “mob”. They were assassinated by the Senate which wiped out all their reforms. Then came Marius who wiped out a good number of Senators. Then came Sulla who wiped out all the “Marists” who could get his hands on and purged approximately 30,000 citizens including 67% of the Senate, (400 out of 600). Then came the restoration which wiped out the Sullists. These included such luminaries as Crassus, Pompey the Great, and wait for it, Julius Caesar.

My point is that when we get politicians who don’t like someone from the opposing party, they start talking about using their “second amendment” rights. Now, is that where you want to go? If you do, we are all lost. A new Caesar awaits. He will be borne to power on the shoulders of people who don’t trust their democratically elected representatives. Beware.
