I live for the day that is the biggest moral question I have.

Strike Susie with a slushie ? What a thought ! I wonder Calvin even bothers to ask how much he would lose ?

I know what Nietzsche would say to Calvin. Choose fierce joy, every time!

“Men are bigger and stronger, but not as bright or compassionate as women.” Wow, talk about stereotyping.

Just for the record, the average IQ of men and women is the same - the point spread for men is bigger in both directions (more geniuses, more, eh, Brewster Rockits).

And compassion? While that has a strong link to estrogen and therefore to sexuality, it also has a strong link to temperament, and for the same reason. Calvin and Suzie both have personality types driven primarily by estrogen in the brain. Both show themselves to have considerable compassion when the chips are down. All else being equal, Calvin would get along better with girls than with most boys - if he let himself. But he doesn’t let himself get along with anybody, male or female.

Whatever’s motivating Calvin to throw slushballs at Suzie, you can bet it’s not a simplistic sense of inferiority because she’s a girl. Calvin doesn’t feel inferior to anybody. He feels he’s the center of the universe, as immature ENFPs usually do. Suzie, who knows better, challenges that perspective. Not because she’s a girl, but because she’s an INFJ girl, she challenges Calvin at every point of his self-image, and particularly at that part with deals with logical frameworks - for him, his inner mischevious child which indeed is a source of violence (but that’s true of us all, not just males). Hobbes (also INFJ) does the same, and so Calvin fights with him a great deal too. But notoriously, Hobbes isn’t a girl! :)

Go ahead Calvin…let fly!

Don’t do it, Callvin. You’ll likely miss, but Susie’s retaliation shots won’t.

Save the snowballs in the Freezer until Boxing Day. Santa won’t remember the incident one whole year later. Besides maybe one of your presents will be a bazooka.

The simple and straight-forward answer to this question is “one more than you would want to lose!”

Chovil needs to chill. It’s not ‘cause he’s a boy, it’s because he’s a kid. I wish I could repay my sister for all the cruelties she inflicted on me, but I have a thing about not spending the rest of my life in prison.

Thanks Chovil, I needed a bunch of sweeping generalities to get my day off to a proper start. Maybe I’ll go throw a slushie at my wife while she sleeps. Maybe I won’t live to see the sun set in the Pacific tonight.

Good post Johanan Rakkav, but we should just ignore Chovil’s post. He/She is just using the standard troll practice of posting something controversial and then hiding while watching what the reaction is.

This comic just reinforces the impression that Calvin would have had a great future as an attorney or policitian.

It could be because he is a child and a little boy to boot. Why do we continue to over-analyze children being children equating behavior with non-sensical psychobabble?

It’s being sneaky that’s bad. Why doesn’t he just challenge Susie to a snowball fight? They could have fun together, and Santa would approve. Or is this just girly of me?

Wait until Calvin discoveres his fixation on her is an early crush.

I think he can afford one, at least, if it is not too hard. Boys will be boys!

If Hobbes were concentrating on building a snowman, Calvin would want to pelt him with slushballs, too. Does that indicate tiger-envy?

Trolls are better off left to starve and die alone so everyone needs to ignore them and stop “feeding” them … doing so only makes them bolder and stronger!!!!!

It makes you wonder how many would be forfeited. Because one good smack means a lot to our hero/brat.

The fixation on Susy is nothing but Calvin’s response to unrequited puppy love, even though he doesn’t yet know it.

Since Santa’s probably buried you so far on his naughty list you’re not getting anything next year either, I’d say fire at will, Calvin.

I think it’s just the boy/girl rivalry that we all went through as young kids, and nothing more.
