His confusion is understandable: Frank showed Ernest a concrete and told him it represented nothing, an abstract. A hard concept to grasp, but not as hard as it used to be, when one studies our current political system
Something I saw in a history program on TV: In Spain, a Muslim was helping a Christian translate some astronomy texts from Arabic to Spanish. For some words, they didn’t know the Spanish word, so they used the Arabic word, as “azimuth” for example. In reading some digits, the Muslim used “zero.” The Christian asked “How do I write a ‘zero’?” “Draw a hole” was the answer.

So the caveman who invented zero didn’t realize that it might be used as a wheel? “What’s a wheel?”

The first day with an empty food bowl is zero. By the end of the day, your stomach understands. The next day starts the concept of negative numbers.

Think of it as the total number of days that ChickenHawks have actually served in the military.
