Lizzie says she will know better next time, but will John and Elly? After the long, calm conversation Elly had with Elizabeth over the last week, it’s a little surprising to see both parents looming over her and tag team yelling/lecturing. It feels like we missed something after John came home that caused this to escalate to that point.
So, the Pattersons can be affectionate. My husband and I did the same – gave our children a good scolding and talk as a team. It is okay if the child sniffs – told us they were normal, knew they were in the wrong, and they have morals. Children who are blank face, emotionless and do not seem to care are indicative of potentially psychological/emotional/moral abnormality or sociopath. So, in other words, Liz is perfectly normal child with two normal and caring parents in the sense that they care and love their children enough to discipline them rather than let things slip and hope for the best like parents I know out there. I am a teacher and I meet all kinds of parents. The Pattersons are quite normal. And Howtheduck, not we didn’t miss anything. John heard what happened and as a father, he gave his child a good talk in a stern voice. That is called parenting.
John and Elly did far better than my parents would have. My mother would’ve screamed, called me all kinds of names, told my dad to spank me, then I’d have been disallowed from watching TV for a week.
You think the in stereo lecture was something, check out the strip for 12/18/2010. Lizzie flushed a bunch of toothbrushes down the toilet and clogged it while her grandparents were visiting. So she had 4 grownups giving her the glare.
Elly does seem to be “yelling” a lot louder than John in this strip, be nice if they had sat down with Liz and talked to her at her level instead of standing over her yelling at her – also would have been nice to see both parents hug her and have seen the expression on Elly’s face as she was hugging Liz – an expression of love or hugging because I’m suppose to look, she’s already yelled at her once today for this offence, I expected to see John sitting down and talking to Liz about it, not both of them standing over her yelling :(
Maybe if her mother who seem to be yelling at her which seem to be the reason why Lizz had to lye in the first place would pick her and gave her a hug and said every thing will be ok seem reason why she lied in first place because of mother
Sadly, my ex thought proper punishment for everything was one of everything…a spanking, a timeout with nose to wall in corner, time in their room, no dinner, and a long lecture. One of the reasons he’s my ex.

All for a container of milk – I don’t know, maybe I’m too soft, but I just don’t see why it’s such a big deal!

It wasn’t the milk – it was the lie

Hope Lizzie learns her lesson not to lie like that again.

Maybe the root issue is that Elizabeth damaged something far worse than the milk – specifically, her parents’ trust.

The lesson most learned is that it’s possible to tune out all the adult yammer, and just know when to nod your head.
