We have nothing left to fight for, so we have only ourselves left to fight and to zealously protect what we have.

Apathy. Not caring enough to actually study the candidates and propositions, just believing what a 60 second ad tells you to believe. Not voting, because neither candidate is all that great.

Two words: “Corrupt Media” It really doesn’t matter what political views you affiliate with. The media no longer reports unbiased news. They constantly report the news with their “spin” on it and this effectually is brain washing us. Sorry to have say it, but it makes it almost impossible to really know what’s going on. Bottom line Pig…We’re %&#ed !

Moral Relativism, the foundational tenet of Progressive Ideology, which has been infecting our society since our astounding successes in the Industrial Age began to make us wealthy and complacent. With no moral anchor, the country has been raising increasingly undisciplined generations that have no respect for others, no self control, and an entitlement mentality that tells them “the ends justify the means”.

    That’s what happened.

It’s part of the cycle through which all empires suffer. It’s just America’s turn.

This strip proves my point yet again that the people who now sit on the edge of their seats anxiously awaiting to see what Trump will say next so that they can act appropriately outraged, paid ZERO attention to what was going on the previous eight years. (Or even longer really.)

The problem is that Americans are mostly convinced to make decisions with their emotions.

Western Europe and South America are with us on this, and it will probably be the death of Western Civilization.

Trump won by appealing to people’s emotions. Clinton lost by appealing to their intellect. Americans (mostly) no longer use intellect to make important decisions; that is the important battle that was lost.

Trump is a symptom of the problem. While it’s the symptoms that we notice (and eventually kill us), they don’t cause themselves.

The short answer to Pig’s question is “the triumph of Romanticism.”

Lack of a good educatuon, resulting in people not knowing history & not being able to engage in critical thinking. Another problem is most Americans obsession with celebrities and pop culture. It’s a huge reason why tRump got elected.

It’s Clinton’s fault. Reagan/Bush didn’t lead to Clinton being elected. But the Clinton Presidency lead to the Bush one and that lead to the Obama one and that lead to Trump’s. So we can blame today on Bill Clinton :) (or maybe Ross Perot)

Lets see, Schools were just being desegregated when I was a kid (full disclosure I was a service brat so I went to desegregated schools most of my life(fuller disclosure my high school was all white but that was a VERY small rural Midwest town, my JrHg was equal parts white, black and Hispanic.) When I lived in So. Cal you couldn’t see across the valley most days because of the air pollution from the cars. Now it’s only rarely that bad. Cancer was a 100% killer when I was a kid, now survival rates are approaching 50%. Cars are safer, more fuel efficient, and lots more comfortable. And I have this small black box on a corner of my desk that lets access all the knowledge (and occasional the ignorance) of the entire human race. So as I was once told they are the “good old days” because they were long ago, and you have a bad memory."

Get over it, Pig. In your comic strip world, anything is possible, good or bad. The responsibility lies with Cartoon-Boy, and he is an inmate of California, where nothing is as it seems and one-party rule disallows dissent, so that only the one true Good is tolerated….

If Pastis had lived in the south, he would have seen this coming for most of the past 40 years, and especially the last 25. The south never stopped fighting the Civil War in their heads, and they never stopped being racist. The rise of Limbaugh and Fox only intensified what was already there.
