A loaf of wine, a jug of bread, and insufficient postage earned Omar a lonely trip into the wilderness.

He would often place the stamp an inch to the left of where it had ought to be. Sometimes, he neglected to include his return address. And then there was the time that he was in Hawaii and sent back a novelty cigarette from Maui.

What a pity she had to cancel their relationship. It’s always hard to stamp out your feelings once they’ve been sealed with a kiss.

I actually dreamed that I was working at the Post Office last night. For some reason, we were putting on a show for a local grade school. It made sense at the time, but in retrospect it all seems a bit surreal.

There was a time when insouciance in a picnicker was highly prized, true. But messin’ with the mail is a Federal offense. She found another willing male to mess with.

… “A woman is two-faced/A woman is two-faced” Can someone help me, please? Is that a lyric from ‘Porgy and Bess’?

I had a smart-aleck remark using it, but a moderately thorough search was inconclusive, and I hate being wrong in an FA comment.

Maybe the hen is the one referring to her insouciant companion who disregards postal regulations. Stealing mail from mailboxes to use for nesting material is perhaps illegal.

I knew a guy in college who liked to push the limits of the postal regulations. Don’t know if it has since changed, but back then you could mail literallly anything as a “postcard” as long as it was within the required dimensions. He would send all manner of things as love notes to his girlfriend in Japan. He once mailed a piece of an old tire he had expertly shaped to the proper size, with the proper postage and festooned with sweet nothings. His love was anything but insouciant.

She had a split personality, with a darker side and a brighter side that even the little red birdies loved. One just never could tell which side would surface. Picnic insouciance was one thing, but postal disregard, clearly another. She couldn’t keep it together; she told him off!

I never did trust those Sweater Girls. It’s a simple, black-and-white issue (with first-day cover)….
