Thoughts and prayers seems to be working. Look at all the people who’ve never been shot. Although, the USA might not be praying as much as the rest of the world.
I’m going to take the moral high road and assume that Pastis doesn’t actually hate all religious people everywhere, and that he’s making a distinction between saying nice words and doing nothing when an issue clearly needs an actionable response.
I am however, reminded of when actor Chris Pratt said on twitter that he was praying for Kevin Smith soon after it became known Smith had a heart attack. The twitterati responded by expressing a tremendous amount of disdain toward Pratt, prayer, and religion in general. It’s one thing to say that you don’t have faith in a power higher than yourself, and another thing entirely to hate a person of faith. In Pratt’s case, he couldn’t take a direct action to improve Smith’s health (not being a medical professional) and his beliefs include prayer as a positive action.

So we need to pray to a god, right? What are we asking of this god? To stop future violence? To bring back the dead? To give us the cajones to do something ourselves? Well, if he’s all powerful and all knowing, he would have already done these things. He either can’t, or doesn’t give a damn.
The deafening silence by those in power who have a chance to do something is unacceptable. Quite frankly, they are cowards.
We get Sen. Rubio and his inane drivel and Sen. Santorum who suggests that instead of protesting against gun violence these kids should instead learn CPR. Yes, learning CPR is a noble thing, but to be so flippant is, well, flippant.
“Thoughts and Prayers” have become the second coming of “Bless your heart.” To those who constantly employ that, instead of actually doing something, well, Bless your heart.
Disappointed in Pastis….looks like he is mocking we who offer thoughts in prayers when there is a shooting, instead of just handing over our guns and making ourselves defenseless like the idiot liberals want us to do. Maybe if God was still allowed in schools, and maybe if God was still a priority instead of America mocking and ignoring Him and His Word, this wouldn’t happen…….it didn’t happen years ago…….. and it doesn’t happen in Christian schools. Comics should be funny…..not political slamming people the writer disagrees with
