This is the first time I can remember ever seeing Nancy and Sluggo with ‘smartphones’…

The punchline felt a little forced in this one. Still, it’s the best Nancy’s been in almost a quarter of a century, and I think we can allow a slight misstep on Day Three.

It’s weird, I’m reading Nancy and I get this weird expression on my face where the corners of my mouth turn upward? Also sometimes I make this involuntary noise like a sort of “hehehe”? Is this normal? I read Gilchrist’s Nancy for years and it never happened once, now it seems to happen every day. I think there’s something wrong with me.

Not sure who the colorist is, but these two look like they are in need of an organ transplant or something. They look positively ill! :)

The answer, of course, is “Cornbread”.

Slightly better; no interference from an “Our Town” like narrator. Nancy, though, doesn’t come across as very well. Still, I suppose, chalk it up to child-like dreams.

Sluggo has no ambition? He could always go into politics. Wonder if Fritzi and Phil will look the same?

Because that’s his schtick – geez, you two have been together how long?

If you’re going to go back to the original drawing style, you should probably also go back to the original type of humor instead of the current overtly hypocritical humor trend. Another caution: that type of humor has a very short shelf life.

What’s with the new art work – Ugh!

Finally Nancy no longer looks like a Muppet Baby—and yeah, she’s funny too.

This one is weird because there seems to be no joke at all. Sluggo has no ambition? Who knew?

All my Gilchristian nightmares are fading on a daily basis.

The criticisms of the skin color come off as a bit racist. Not everyone is pink and pale.

Sluggo’s financial situation seems to have improved. Not only does he have his own phone, but he now owns one of those shirts that switch from stripes to solids every few seconds!

Gilchrist’s Nancy was better. I am still reading but starting to really dislike the current Nancy..hoping for a change of heart.

I like it! (And I liked Gil’s work too.)

I liked this one. The old Nancy was infantile.

Four for four for upgrading from the banalities and cornball sweetness of the last artist

For those who preferred the old Nancy, GoComics also offers Nancy Claasics. There is a “new” nostalgic comic every day.

They just gave blood and were propped up against the tree until they recover as the bloodmobile trundled off. Or maybe the disembodied head is a vampire and it was through feeding for the week, leaving them to their compact mirrors for self gratification or awaiting signs that they became vampires.

As a comics expert, I can make the declaration that we’re seeing a new take on an old classic and I welcome it. There are hints of Bushmiller, but our young Olivia is making Nancy her own.

Maybe it’s time to put Bushmiller out of our minds. He’s not coming back, nor is the guy he replaced on Fritzi Ritz.

Is this a strip I’d read if it didn’t have this title? I’m not sure, actually, and the uncertainty is probably a point in its favor. Still, I’m trying to stop comparing it with You-Know-Who’s work.

“But Ernie didn’t go in for thought balloons…” STOP.

New artist? What in tarnation! Bring back Brad Gilchrist. He knew the important things: the US and A, our military, country music, God, the irrepressible energy of children, a shotgun marriage that came out of nowhere, how two truck drivers with very long beards who spent months on the road always make the best the foster parents and name dropping celebrities who died that no one had ever heard of. Bring ’em back, ya hear!?

Insipid drawing and uninspired writing.

Lame art and dumb jokes. Still, no Mystery Head poking in to make strange comments. I give this a 1.3 out of 10.

Not sure how I feel about this new Nancy. It strikes me as a parody rather than a continuation of the actual comic by a different artist.

Whatever your position on the new/old/whatever Nancy style, this is the first time EVER that I can remember 87 comments on a Nancy strip!

Bring back the other drawing style. I don’t like this new look.

This one…is pretty good, honestly. Much better without the weird talking heads!

I still find the art a bit offputting, but this is two days in a row of sharp writing.

I’m not sure I’m won over, but my trial period is definitely extended.

Well, at least they aren’t having “sleepy deepy thoughts” or whatever that pablum was called…

I’m sorry, but I thought this one was pretty funny with its understated irony. Beats the hammer-over-the-head, “sleepy deepy thoughts”, hands down.

Do Nancy and Sluggo have jaundice?

How can one little girl and her bald friend bring so much joy to the world?

A lot of comments of this being a return to Bushmiller’s minimal style. It may be minimal, but it’s not as precisely drawn.

Man alive, these new Nancy strips are great. Bravo to Jaimes for creating something that is both so clever, funny and fresh and so in keeping with the absurd and sometimes biting Bushmiller strips.Bravo, Ms. Jaimes, and bravo Andrews McMeel for this new tack.

This Nancy speaks to me, I’m so very tired

I’m surprised to see that no one came up with the obvious answer to Sluggo’s question: "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!"
