Dean: Mrs. Angelini, were you around during the great depression? Mrs. Angelini: Indeed I was.... Mrs. Angelini:...back then, everybody was poor, even into the war years, and we all helped each other and entertained ourselves... Heart: ...boy, that's weird. I can't even imagine a time before "facebook." Mrs. Angelini: Yeah, a very strange time...if we wanted to talk to someone, we talked to them.

To remember the Great Depression, one would have to at least be pushing 80. I would never have guessed Mrs. Angelini was that old. She must be taking great care of herself.

Heart hasn’t aged since the strip started 11 years ago, so I guess Mrs. Angelini hasn’t either. One of the advantages of living in a comic strip!
Although that makes it funny that Heart “can’t imagine a time before Facebook”, since she was around before FB was invented…

Mrs. Angelini should be about 87 years old now…….even if it was 11 years ago , 76 is a bit long in the tooth for a schoolteacher

Mrs. Angelini isn’t a teacher, she’s a housekeeper/cook.

If the depression had lasted until the 1940s in Europe too, that would potentially have meant that the Nazis never rose to power. In Germany it pretty much ended by 1933, which the Nazis claimed credit for (undeserved), this helped them greatly in their rise to power.
