Who cares whose parents they are? After that long ride with the grandchildren constantly bombarding them with information overload, they’re still smiling. Of course! They’re grandparents soaking in their grandchildrens’ experiences.
Well, it looks like it didn’t take long for the kids to warm up to their grandparents. The grandparents are on cloud nine because they’re the “celebrities” right now, and the kids get undivided attention. It’s all good.
(How long before someone mentions Lizzie in the front seat? 3, 2, 1…)
Re: lightenup, it’s possible that Lizzie is in the middle of the back seat and leaning forward very much so between the bucket seat backs to the front of her. I’ve seen it first hand in my own car, when bringing my parents to my home from the train station. Come to think of it, my kids are about the same age is these in the strip.

“Lynn ran her last new strip in July. She has a video on her site about the production of that strip. Everything is reruns now. Bill, you need to make sure of your facts before you make pronouncements.”
Thanks for the info on the change in July but a “pronouncement’ is “A formal expression of opinion; a judgment” or an “an authoritative statement”The info I gave wasn’t my opinion or made on my authority. Maybe you should learn the meaning of words before you use them and maybe they should update the site as that is where the information I gave is shown..
Cheers !
“An authoritative announcement” (Webster’s definition) does not necessarily mean on your own authority. For instance, the White House press secretary makes “authoritative announcements” all the time, all of which are on the authority of someone else. Bill, you made an authoritative (albeit someone else’s authority) announcement about Lynn’s work out of the blue, with no lead-in from anything anyone else had written. That’s the very definition of a pronouncement.
Fbofw.com (Lynn’s website) does have updated information. The video of her last new drawing has been posted there since last July.
In this comic strip, the comic is for our amusement, while the comments are for our education. Where else can we find definitions for”pronouncement” and “authoritative announcement” all in one site?
Supposedly if that couple were John’s parents, why did John go with Elly and the kids to pick John’s parents at the airport? Apparently, John didn’t go with them, just waited at home till his parents arrived at their house. Sheeshh! Odd! sighhh! :-/
Wildmustang1262: Elly left pretty early to go to the airport to pick them up. Maybe John couldn’t get off work in time to beat the traffic before their plane arrived?
In addition to other comments (and regarding child in the front seat), it was accepted use in our day- even to hold a child on the lap of driver. People drove less recklessly and roads were less crowded. I like that I grew up in a simpler time- finished 8th grade in 1951, HS in 55 etc.
^Absolutely – I’m a few years behind you vidazzle, and remember much different driving conditions. One disadvantage of manly-mobiles and mommy-vans is that folks feel invincible in them. In a recent snow storm, those were the cars that were lying on their side in the ditch – not the Minis like I drive.

I think they’re Ellie’s parents. Anyway they look like her parents from the later strips.

And for those who still believe the older cars were safer, the national insurance institute crashed a 1957 BelAir head-on into a 2008 Malibu.
Guess which car won?
