Happy… National Donut Day… I guess?

I (emphasis on “I”) thought it was the countdown to Garfield’s birthday… 19 days and counting.

Donut forsake me oh my darling……

Mmmm donuts! Someone pass this on to Homer Simpson!

That means we should have donuts in our break room today. Fingers crossed!

June is also National Accordion Appreciation month!

This sure is a special day for Garfield. (Oh wait, his upcoming birthday is.)

This day couldn’t come any sooner.

National Doughnut Day was started in 1938 by the Salvation Army as a way to raise funds for to assist people in need during the Great Depression. It also had a secondary mission to honor the Salvation Army “Lassies,” who ran canteens / social centers near the World War I battlefields, to provide comfort to American soldiers.

So, while you’re enjoying your doughnuts today, think about those brave women, and maybe make a donation to the Salvation Army — or your favorite service organization — in their memory and honor.

Garfield must be slowing down in his old age, only 3 donuts in one paw.

Kroger has a sign saying today is National Donut Day sitting on a pile of packages of dozen donuts. Another sign says they will be on sale TOMORROW in honor of National Donut Day.

All Garfield needs now, is a coffee to dunk Jon’s donuts in.

Count me in! Personally, I’ll be celebrating National Donut Day on Saturday (tomorrow), my one day of the week I always have donuts with breakfast.
