Hmm…with Kato out of the picture, will The Green Hornet find his hands full? And maybe come up short in his fight and end up being rescued by our local hero?
He wants them to believe that he “wants a piece of the action”, yet he announces this by destroying part of their operation! Now there’s a giant hole in the wall where their secret printing operation takes place. How does that help convince them he wants in on the counterfeiting business?
Plus, dust and dry wall and wood splinters in the air, which will certainly mix into the ink spread out on that ink disk, rendering it useless until they wash up and start over.
Joe did an excellent job drawing the underside of that ink disk on the printing press. Those are made out of cast iron, with a polished surface, but the underside looks exactly like that, with the “sections”. However, although it’s hard to tell from the back, I think Joe made the same mistake lots of artists make when they draw one of these table-top, hand operated presses. It looks like he’s got the platen up while the handle is also up. That’s wrong. You pull the handle down which causes the ink rollers to roll up on the disk, while the platen also comes up to make an impression. If the press is a rest, while the printer inspects a copy of his work, as is happening here, the handle would be up, but the platen would be down (out of view in this shot)
So… Tracy’s color is yellow, The Hornet’s (and Sam’s) is green (In the Gould era, I believe Sam’s was plaid), The Spirit’s was blue, Wendy Wichel’s is red, Cosmo Topper’s is gray (until he gets out of the B/W world) all the uniformed officers have checkerboard “dicing” on theirs… does anyone wear just plain old hats here? It’s a little like the shirt colors on the original Star Trek series.
Movie really sucked, but the 1949 serial “Green Hornet stikes back” was done really well and captured the true nature of Green Hornet. (It’s on You Tube)
So far so good. With Casey in the “Kato” role, I wonder if we’ll see a Mexican standoff between Green Hornet & Kato (Casey) and Dick Tracy & Tess, a la Batman ’66.
Seth Rogen later said the Green Hornet movie was a “great education” for him & his writing partner. They realized that while the studio was focused on trying to solve all that movie’s problems, other moviemakers with smaller budgets were working with less studio interference. After that, Rogen concentrated on making lower-budget comedies, & his career really took off.
As for the “new” Green Hornet movie, it was announced that it will be directed by the same director who made the Ben Affleck film “The Accountant” (which, I heard, was the most-rented movie of 2017, go figure) & the plan was to present the Hornet as a more “edgy” hero, whatever that means. There’s been virtually no news on it since Paramount’s official announcement back in late 2016, which usually isn’t a good sign for a film project.
Black Beauty makes a statement with impact. The Green Hornet looks and sounds suitably menacing. And Casey-Kato looks good as the wheelwoman with the long-haired red wig (à la Batgirl, otherwise dark-haired Barbara Gordon [Yvonne Craig], in the TV Batman series; I’m a sucker for the long red-haired girls—even preferred Ginger over Mary Anne).
A statement has been made. The Apparatus is on notice!

Good morning™, party crashers! (crashing the guilty party, in this case)
So his presence is known now to the media, the police, and the Apparatus. Everything is prepared now and the plan is underway.

Now look to see a den of thieves where counterfeiters work
Activities so criminal in shadows they must lurk.
Hornet he comes crashing in with Casey at the wheel
Crooks they fear the jig is up, yet Hornet wants to deal.
The Apparatus owns this joint, yet Hornet does not scare
Demands that he now be cut in. A bold and dicey dare.
Green Hornet he will risk it all to save his buddy Kato
Should thugs attempt to thwart his plan he’ll treat ‘em just like Play-Doh.
So stick around and ye shall see the way the Hornet stings
Tough guys reduced to bitter tears from harsh pain that he brings.

I thought it was said yesterday that Casey couldn’t drive the Black Beauty and be Green Hornet ’s partner! Did I miss something?

I guess we’re too PC to show an Asian character as a sidekick? Kinda like Spike Dyke becoming Spike Smith.

Reid makes the Green Hornet seem omniscient in his knowledge of things and comes on strong to wow the crooks.
