Comic artist was a bit of a sadist. But Tarzan has hyper calcified thumbs so no problem.

To be hung by the thumbs – is that more or less painful than whipping?

I think maybe they have hung him a bit too close to the mast and other stays.

Hang him by his thumbs and whip him; the best of both worlds.

Knowing Tarzan’s monkey skills, I would think he would twist, face the mast, wrap his legs around the mast, shimmy up, slackening the ropes, and the untie himself.

Gee….Tarzan only asked for some water. Imagine what they would have done to him if he asked for some of their food.

Tarzan needs to start killing some fools.

Tarzan & his captors must have listening to the old Bob & Ray Show on radio with their classic sign-off, “This is Ray Goulding reminding you to write if you get work”; “Bob Elliott reminding you to hang by your thumbs”.
