And how many adventurous ladies out there are going to get out their Nancy cosplay outfits to take a picture of themselves taking a picture of the comic strip?
If you told me I would be reading Nancy 50 years ago, I would have said you were crazy. It was the very first comic I recognized as lame. So either I am now a senile old man, or the new Nancy has done the impossible: revived a long dead corpse of a strip.
Excellent strip and very funny today. But did the colorist forget to make Nancy’s hair bow red in the first image of her in the first panel, or was it to add to today’s theme of change? ☺
199. Two Brothers coming to be executed once for ſome enormous Crime ; the Eldeſt was firſt turn’d off, without ſaying one Word : The other mounting the Ladder, began to harangue the Crowd, whoſe Ears were attentively open to hear him, expecting ſome Confeſſion from him, “Good People,” ſays he, “my Brother hangs before my Face, and you ſee what a lamentable SPECTACLE he makes ; in a few Moments I ſhall be turned off too, and then you’ll ſee a Pair of SPECTACLES."—Joe Miller’s Jeſts, or the WITS Vade-mecum, MDCCXXXIX
Humour doesn’t change; it oscillates between clever, crude, cruel and clowning. What it always needs is timing and skill. With all the effort in the world, OJ will always be OJ.
Olivia got me back into the strip after many years, and I am LOVING it. Bushmiller’s surreal, simple spirit is back at last, but with a very present sensibility and style. And it’s actually funny. Glad more folks are are starting to drown out the mummified haters.

Welp.
Pretty spot on, except I know I couldn’t, and certainly couldn’t day in, day out.

Strips like today’s are a reminder that this comic isn’t aimed at and can’t be enjoyed by little kids anymore, which is kind of sad.

Yes, the nerve of people, thinking something isn’t funny when it isn’t funny.
It’s the READER’S fault that they don’t recognize what a brilliant artist I am. Even when I’m one step above stick figures.
