When I was born, I was told my 14-month-old older brother was at someone else’s house with the common cold. Unlike the Pattersons, there was not a third and final baby sibling after me years later.
Funny how women forget the childbirth pains the moment the baby is born. I birthed two and i certainly don’t remember the pain. I know I was in a world of pain for those 5 hours with my first and 3 hours with younger, but I can’t quite remember it and have been decades that I haven’t remembered. If mothers truly remember the pain, most of us WOULD stop at one. Most of us would be the only child, a sibling would be a novelty, unique, etc – a sibling that is not a twin or multiple birth sibling. Look at Princess Kate. She has the worst type of morning sickness yet she had three births. On top of that, I had morning sickness with my first. Mother nature gives us women the capacity to forget birth pains in order to have more pregnancies and births.
Speaking of forgetting child birth pain…not so with me..had to have emergency C section…anaesthetist didn’t give me enough anaesthetic so I felt myself being sliced open(3 slices, to be exact)..thought I would die from the pain….heard my daughter cry and then, finally, oblivion. After 37years, still haven’t forgotten.
Remember an old “Readers comment” from an old “True -The Man’s magazine” from around 1957….Wife commenting to her very “Hung-Over” husband and buddy who were in death’s throws from Demon Rum. “If I EVER did anything that made me so sick, I would never be stupid enough to do it again!”…Hubby replied “Dear, did you ever talk to a pregnant woman?”

How is Elly sitting in that seat? She looks like she is lying down. I would think sitting up and wearing a seat belt would be a smarter move.

Yes, you will – and you’ll be so very glad of it, in the end.

As a single man with no kids, I think I’ll stay out of today’s discussions and leave them to the women who know best!
