Missing children on milk cartons lasted maybe two years. It was causing too much stress in kids seeing it on the breakfast table every morning, and didn’t find anyone. Yet thirty years later, it’s still a running gag.
Puts me in mind of the old joke that pimped an advertising slogan by (I think) American Airlines: “Breakfast in New York, dinner in Los Angeles, luggage in Buenos Aires.”
Several airlines are now tracking luggage in real time and you can get notifications on your phone when the bag is loaded on the plane, sent to the arrival carousel, or transferred to a plane to Elbonia.
