I like this relationship between Ethan (Phoebe’s dad) and Marigold. They are both antiquarians, and delight in—and consider it important, so that Phoebe will have an historical perspective—to introduce Phoebe to older things. They also enjoy having an “in thing,” feeling cool about being familiar with things that Phoebe and her generation know little or nothing about. Also, they sometimes conspire to embarrass Phoebe (like the time she mentioned—when he was grilling burgers outdoors—how no one else wore his un-cool “dad shorts,” only to see Marigold walk up wearing a pair of them, too [in exchange for him grilling her some oat patties, as she happily admitted when Phoebe asked what he’d offered her to do that]). :-)
I once had a website hosted by a magazine devoted to greyhounds called A Breed Apart. Unfortunately, the site closed down many years ago, since followed by the magazine itself.

Oh, and for the record, GeoCities was a real thing, not a literally named parody.

‘Geo’ means earth, so it means EarthCities, right?

Believe it or not, I’ve actually heard of GeoCities from a sketch show called “MAD”. Just the name at least.

I know a lot of old stuff, and I’m young, but I have no idea what this was.

I think Marigold needs a boyfriend.

I love it that Pheebs’ parents can not only see Marigold, but interact with her.

I used to have a… vaguely page-ish thing… on Geocities…
asrialfeeple over 6 years ago
Never had those myself. Geocities used to take ages to properly load and it just wasn’t worth it to me. Tripod was much faster.
