It’s easy to sit here and say, "Bad decision! He should tell her (my first reaction, and the correct one), but there is a huge amount of shame for a boy to admit he’s being bullied and needs help. It’s not an easy thing to do.
Oh I remember those days, I never admitted to my folks that I was being bullied…I was taught that physical response [violence] was a last resort and like war signified a breakdown of diplomacy. I would warn the bully [ies] several times to lay off, don’t push, loud enough that I was heard by other classmates. When the issue went too far becoming a physical act by the aggressor and I was backed into a corner and could not avoid it; a quick palm strike to the nose followed by a four finger thrust into the hollow of the neck left the bully on the floor and me sitting in the guidance office to ‘cool down’.
My son is very tall and thin. In high school there was this one kid that constantly bullied him. According to his classmates this one time the kid went too far and my son snapped and beat the crap out of him. Due to the school’s zero tolerance policy my son was suspended for a week. The other kid got nothing.
