The one night a year Earl wants to get biz-zay, he invites Opal to bed and she chooses the cat. Well done, Opal!

Winston Churchill once said “Dogs look up to you, Cats look down on you, and pigs treat you as equals. I like pigs.”

Cats domesticated humans. When early people encountered cats, the felines ate the vermin that accumulated around the inevitable trash pile in the settlement, removing a pressure that forced people to move on. So they stopped being nomads and began cultivating the land and staying for much longer periods.

Actually, fossil records suggest that dogs domesticated us in much the same way – followed us from camp to camp eating our scraps and gradually working their way into human hunts. They started the transformation into dogs long before we started having anything to do with it.

It’s fair to say that both species domesticated us, rather than us taming them. :-)

I’m not at all sure we’re domesticated. Maybe cats and dogs should get together and finish the job.

Me and my wife have known about C.O.L. for years! The best way to relax is with a cat on your lap then if you need something just say “Hon would you get me a refill on my coffee I got c.o.l.” or “Hon find the remote I got c.o.l.” We have 3 cats so sometimes things don’t work out, lol

Cats also have some innate sense of when you are just about to get up; that’s when they plop down.

I refer to this as having been catted. I can’t get up now, I’ve been catted. However if I have to use the bathroom I will insist on being decatted.

Somehow I knew this comic would be polarizing the cat and dog people. Cats and dogs both have their strengths. The most fun is when cats and dogs act a little like each other.

I love both, but the weirdest is bunnies. They disapprove of everything. They are more what people think cats are like at times. But then they dance.

So all kinds of pets can get along and they are all wonderful. They lower your blood pressure, make you smile, make you crazy, and you wonder how you could live without them (and then you have to.) But our lives are the richer for it.

So funny! We’ve called that C.O.L. for years. It’s the best reason to not get up to answer a phone.

In my family we would say (cat or dog), “I can’t get up, I have a wart in my lap.”

The feline corollary to Murphy’s Law…just when your cat has curled up on your lap and is being perfectly adorable, you will have to go to the bathroom.
