Calvin doesn’t need to ruin the camping trip. Dad is doing a fine job of that all by himself.

It’s about time that dad experienced a camping trip as bad as the ones mom and Calvin have to endure…

Now he’ll be cold AND blind.

currently – glass is half empty… with the possibility of going for broke!

There is a reason people carry ‘dry bags’ when paddling.

Oh look, his brand new binoculars all wet. still better than his previous binoculars, I seem to remember they were “dry as dust”.

This is why you should have more than one pair of glasses if you wear them constantly.

I just can’t see him doing that but he needn’t worry – Dad has plenty of contacts on his phone.

I think this is Calvin’s scheme of revenge. Maybe he should sleep with one eye open.

They said smile…things could be worse! So I smiled and…sure enough……..you know the rest.

Lighten up people! I find the lecturing and school-marmish comments of some here very weird. Stuck in parent mode, or something. Enjoy the irony of dad screwing up after scolding Calvin. And the larger irony of continuing to go on camping trips with their inevitable misery.

To have to live without glasses is not the end of the world.“Long, long time ago…” When my kids were quite young, I was new in my career, and we didn’t have much money, my glasses were broken. Being near-sighted, I had to survive for 3 months without glasses. Things were a bit fuzzy, but as long as you go to places you are familiar with, driving is not a problem. You may not be able to read a license plate, but it you can’t see a bicycle, motorcycle, or car, you’ve got BIG problems. I did everything I needed to do (obviously without watching much TV), saved up the money and got new glasses.Dad will get by. Mom may have to guide them back to the car, but this really would ruin a vacation for me.Personally, paved roads don’t take me where I love to go. So despite the may negative comments at Dad, I understand him and support him. Of course, nowadays I take my wife to Vegas and on cruises, as well as white-water rafting.

well, if it never fails that the kid drops the bag, stop handing him the bag!

OK this is better than last year. Dad finding out how much “fun” camping can be!

Wait until tomorrow. We find out about something even worse, that he won’t find out about until the end of the week.

Dad is a sulker

Serves him right…the only one who wanted to go camping was Dad…I guess because he always has such a good time.

I would love to go camping like this cute family. Having Calvin come along will be a bonus. Maybe I can make the camping more fun for the star kid.
